Nancy Mozzachio Files Lawsuit Against Cedar Realty’s CEO

Cedar Realty’s CEO namely Bruce Schanzer is now facing charges of pay discrimination and sexual harassment as filed by their former Chief Operating Officer namely Nancy H. Mozzachio. It is just waiting for a Brooklyn judge to be deciding if the lawsuit has more merit to proceed.

According to Nancy Mozzachio, based on the lawsuit she filed on November 2 regarding Schanzer, she claims that the CEO leered regularly at women working in the workplace and made comments that are uncalled for. Aside from calling Nancy Mozzachio ‘babe’, Schanzer also commented about her breast. One time when she brought to her desk a coffee cup from Dunkin Donuts, she was commented by him to be bringing some double Ds to work. Furthermore, Schanzer is also accused of giving groping hugs that are unwanted to the one filing the case.

By the time that Nancy H. Mozzachio filed her case to the court for pay disparity and sexual harassment, the company has then decided that it be best for them to fire her. After she was found out to be seeking some outside legal help from Cedar to discuss how she can go about filing her sexual harassment case, she was then terminated in February 2016. According to her, the meeting was canceled and then she was then terminated on the coming week.

During the year 2015 when an external investigator decided to probe on the allegations, Cedar Realty then decided to start investigating on the matter. Despite the presence of an investigator by the company, Nancy Mozzachio makes mention that if it will be about Schanzer and the sexual harassment allegations made by the female employees of the company, the investigator ignores them. There is even one employee that went to the Wall Street Journal to tell them to report about her being asked by Schanzer what color her underwear is. In order for the investors not to know about this matter, the company has decided to pay the people who have filed some complaints against Schanzer about their being sexually harassed.

Nancy Mozzachio has basically become a success in this company. While she started off in the year 2003 as the director of leasing and in the year 2004 as the vice president of leasing, she then worked her way up until the year 2014 where she became the chief operating officer. Based on her lawsuit, she mentions that even if she is supposed to get higher compensation than the CFO as being the COO, she was being paid lower salary as well as a small bonus than the chief operating officer. Of course, for Cedar Realty, they are not true and are very much satisfied that after the board has done their investigations, the allegations were of no merit.

Nancy H. Mozzachio is still coming back for more after this denial. She still strives to ensure that female workers are treated the same as male workers in the workplace and will be safe at all cost.
